Sclerosing sweat duct carcinoma in the left axilla presenting as metastatic breast cancer.

Sclerosing sweat duct carcinoma (SSDC) is a rare adnexal tumor that has various names in the literature. It often occurs in middle-aged adults, is slow-growing, invades deeply, is locally aggressive, and has a high recurrence rate. It has a firm plaque appearance and is most commonly noted on the face. Like in the case of this patient, its benign appearance and rarity often lead to a clinical misdiagnosis before histological diagnosis. A 47-year-old woman presented to the primary clinic with a nontender left axillary mass. She had no family history of breast cancer. She had menarche at age 12 years and was a G6P3. She denied any weight loss, fevers, chills, or other masses. She had a medical history significant for acne vulgaris, dermatofibroma of the right thigh, and a hysterectomy with bilateral oophorectomy.
