A U.S. court has dismissed patent infringement claims made by Solutia against Sinorgchem Co. (Shandong, China) and Korea Kumho Petrochemical (Seoul) in a case dating back to 2008. Solutia, through its Flexsys America subsidiary, alleged that Sinorgchem's process for making 4-aminodiphenylamine (4-ADPA) and its intermediates infringes on Flexsys' patents, and sought an exclusion order barring importation into the U.S. of Sinorgchem's 4-ADPA and any antidegradants made from its 4-ADPA, including phenylenediamine (6PPD) produced by Kumho.
