N. America chemical rail down 4% YOY

During the week ended 8 October, chemical railcar traffic in North America decreased 4.0% year-over-year (YOY) on a sharp drop in the United States. For all of North America, chemical railcar traffic during the week totaled 39,930 carloads, down 8.0% from the previous week, according to data released on 12 October by the Association of American Railroads (AAR). For the year to date, chemical railcar traffic in North America is down 0.2%, versus a 9.6% decrease in all railcar traffic, according to the AAR.
