Solvay's Ebitda up on cost cuts, to sell Solvay Indupa to Unipar

Solvay's frst-quarter net income, ?192 million ($220.5 million), was down 5.2% year-on-year (YOY) because of discontinued operations fol- lowing the creation of Inovyn, a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) joint venture with Ineos in July 2015. Net sales also declined, to ?2.93 billion, 5.7% lower YOY as average selling prices decreased 2% YOY. Foreign-exchange impacts turned negative as the appreciation of the dollar lost momentum and the euro appreciated versus a number of currencies, such as Brazil's.
