The Chemical Industries Association (CIA; London, United Kingdom) reports an optimistic outlook for the chemical industry in the United Kingdom in the near term, despite concern about the uncertainty of the country’s future relationship with Europe and its impact on investment. UK chemical and pharmaceutical companies, which make up the UK’s top export earning sector, have seen growth across four key economic measures for the frst time in over a year, according to the CIA’s latest survey of companies. More companies are reporting increases in sales volumes, exports, margins, and jobs in the third quarter of 2016 than the number that are reporting decreases, CIA says.
