Water management team leader with Industry & Investment NSW (I&I NSW), Rod Jackson has praised the benefits of irrigators undertaking Irrigation Farm Water Use Efficiency Assessments (IFWUEA). As part of the NSW Sustaining the Basin: Border Rivers-Gwydir pilot project (STBBRG), Border Rivers and Gwydir Valley irrigators have had the opportunity to access funding to carry out an Irrigation Farm Water Use Efficiency Assessment. An IFWUEA is a rigorous analysis of the farms' current irrigation system performance and management. It helps to identify the scope for improvement in irrigation performance and assesses the potential improvements in water use efficiency from modernising on-farm infrastructure. Forty one irrigators participating in the NSW Sustaining the Basin: Border Rivers-Gwydir (STBBRG) have nominated to undertake an Irrigation Farm Water Use Efficiency Assessment (IFWUEA).
