Bankless channels at st george

'Bullamon Plains' was founded in 1928 and is owned and operated by the Willis family. Lo- cated about 65 kms south of St George this 16,000 hectare mixed farming enterprise consists of 3000 hectares of dryland cropping, 11,000 hectares of grazing country and 2000 hectares of irrigated cotton. Bullamon Plains is focussed on maximising the efficiency of water and labour resources. The team has minimised evaporation losses by: Installing short supply channels; Centrally locating water storages to reduce travel distance in transferring irrigation water; Having deep storages with high walls; and, Investing in a bankless channel irrigation system.
