Syngenta posted first-quarter 2011 sales of $4 billion, an increase of 13% compared with the same period one year earlier. The figures are based on a constant exchange rate. Volumes expanded 14% during the period. Quarterly earnings were not disclosed. For pesticides and seeds activities, sales rose 20% in Europe, Africa and the Mideast, with strong growth in both pesticides and seeds. Sales rose 6% in North America, reflecting a strong seeds performance.
