Dow Adds Capacity for OLED Materials

Dow Electronic Materials says it has opened a plant at Cheonan, South Korea to produce emissive materials for the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) market. Cost and capacity details were not disclosed. OLEDs enable next generation energy-efficient thin displays with a better color palette, faster response time and longer battery life, Dow says. Dow says it has invested more than $300 million in the Korean electronic materials industry in the last ten years, including a recently announced 60 m.t./year expansion of trimethyl gallium (TMG) at Cheonan.
