Fairfax India to acquire stake in Sanmar Chemicals Group

Fairfax India Holdings Corp. (Toronto) says that it has agreed to invest $300 million in the Sanmar Chemicals Group (Chennai, India), through a combination of equity and fixed income securities. As a result of this investment, Fairfax India will acquire a 30% equity ownership in Sanmar. Sanmar is one of the largest suspension polyvinyl chloride (PVC) manufacturersin India with an installed capacity of about 300,000 m.t./year, as well as being the largest specialty PVC company in India, Fairfax India says.
