N. America chemical rail shipments drop

During the week ended 18 June, chemical railcar trafc in North America decreased 2.3% year-over-year (YOY) on a continu- ing slump in Canada. Chemical railcar trafc during the week totaled 41,444 carloads, up 0.9% from the previous week, according to data released on 22 June by the Association of American Railroads (AAR). For the year to date, chemical railcar trafc in North America is up 0.1%, versus a 12.3% decrease in all railcar trafc, according to the AAR.
