K+S reports ?201.3 million ($229.6 million) in net income for the frst quarter, up 23% year-on-year (YOY) despite lower Ebitda and operat- ing earnings. The company’s frst-quarter Ebitda was ?285.3 million, contracting 25.5% YOY, and the company's Ebit I operating earnings fell 31% YOY, to ?218.4 million. The Ebit I fgure is nevertheless 10% above analysts' consensus estimates. K+S’s sales shrank 20.4% YOY in the frst quarter, to about ?1.1 billion.
