Lotte Chemical Invests in Large PET Plant in the U.K.

Lotte Chemical U.K. (Wilton, U.K.), a subsidiary of the Honam (Seoul) group, will invest in excess of ￡60 million ($92.7 million) in a polyethyl- ene terephthalate (PET) bottle resin plant at its Wilton, U.K. manufactur- ing complex. The company will begin clearing the site in the next couple of weeks. Completion is scheduled for the third or fourth quarter of 2013. The company is in the final stages of technology and engineering contractor selection. The facility will be built along an existing PET plant at the site, which has a capacity of 150,000 m.t./year. This unit together with a 500,000-m.t./year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Wilton, formed part of the Artenius group, which was acquired by the Honam in 2010.
