ExxonMobil Chemical Profits Triple; CPChem Lifts Chevron, ConocoPhillips

ExxonMobil chemical segment earnings more than tripled in the fourth quarter on stronger margins, higher volumes and the absence of year-ago hurricane impacts. ExxonMobil抯 chemical earnings were $716 million in the fourth quarter, up from $155 million in the year-ago period. U.S. earnings were $292 million, up $211 million from the year-ago period. Non-U.S. earnings were $424 million, up $350 million from the year-ago quarter. Stronger margins improved earnings by $190 million while higher sales volumes increased earnings $190 million, ExxonMobil says.
