A flurry of mostly-small merger-and-acquisition (M&A) transac- tions were announced last week, continuing a year of robust deal activity. The week's most notable transaction was Agrium's acqusition of Cargill's US ag-retail business. The deal moves Agrium further into the ag-retail space in North America, a key goal for the fertilizer producer and wholesaler. It adds 18 locations to Agrium's retail network.
