Total has confirmed that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with National Petrochemical Co. (NPC; Tehran) to study building a steam cracker on the Iranian coast, with ethane as the primary feedstock. "This MOU is a frame agreement, setting out terms of a study into a possible project and does not constitute a binding contract to build the facility," Total says.
