Evonik starts building second methionine plant in Singapore

Evonik Industries says that it held a groundbreaking ceremony on 19 October to mark the official start of construction of the previously announced second world-scale plant for the amino acid DL-methionine in Singapore. The plant will have a production capacity of 150,000 metric tons/year and is expected to become operational in 2019. The plant will involve investing more than ?500 million ($550 million), Evonik says. Evonik started up the first methionine plant in Singapore, 150,000- metric tons/year, in November 2014.
