By 2010, the number of pedestrians killed in road accidents in Europe has to be decreased by 50 per cent. The automotive industry has therefore started extensive development to improve pedestrian protection, MSC Automotive has introduced independently operating measuring facilities to measure the velocity, angle, and displacement of pedestrian impactors. These velocity and displacement systems are already working successfully at a large automotive manufacturer in Germany.
