University engineering school graduate Joseph A. Youngman, has been about a month at his first job, test engineer at A-1 Testing Lab. One day he feels motivated to offer to run A-1's electrodynamic (ED) shakers so dynamics test technician AI Jenkins can have a vacation. Fortunately, he first mentions his idea in the office of his mentor, soon-to-retire Henry Wolfe, before acting on his impulse to make the offer direct to AI Henry pauses - a long pause-then gently says, "Joe, sit down."
