Court finds against DuPont in patent dispute with MacDermid

A US district court in New Jersey issued an opinion last week siding with MacDermid in a patent dispute over flexographic imaging plates. The dispute relates to thermal processing for flexographic imaging plates, which are used in packaging materials, print media. In the opinion, Judge Mary Cooper ruled that MacDermid did not infringe upon DuPont’s patents, and that one of two DuPont patents related to the flexographic imaging was invalid. The invalid patent was related to thermal processing for flexographic imaging, a process by which the plates are washed of chemical solvents by heating.
