Stemoamide was first isolated in 1992 from the roots and rhizomes of Ste-monaceous plants by Lin and coworkers.1 In traditional folk medicine of China and Japan, stemoamide and related stemona-alkaloids have long been employed as antihelmintics and antitussives as well as for respiratory disorders.
