Solvay inaugurates sodium bicarbonate plant in Thailand

Solvay, the leading global producer of sodium bicarbonate (bicarb), is on Wednesday inaugurating its first such plant in Southeast Asia. The 100,000 m.t./year facility at Map Ta Phut is Southeast Asia’s largest sodium bicarbonate plant. Together with plants in Europe and the US, it brings to nine the number of Solvay’s sodium bicarbonate plants worldwide. Built at the cost of ?20 million ($22.6 million), the plant will supply growing demand from healthcare, food and consumer goods markets throughout Asia.
