Hyosung (Seoul), the world’s largest producer of spandex fiber, plans to expand capacity at its plant in Guangdong Province, China, by more than 14%. The expansion will raise capacity at the facility to 80,000 m.t./year and increase Hyosung’s worldwide spandex capacity to 190,000 m.t./year, giving it an overall market share of more than 30%. The company says that the planned hike is in response to the explosive rise in demand for spandex in China and other Asian markets.
