July US benzene settlement sparks second round of nylon-6 price increases

The rising price of feedstock benzene has put a pinch on North American producers of nylon-6, who have responded by increasing prices. BASF on 6 July issued an increase of 10 cts/lb on both nylon-6 and precursor caprolactam in North America, effective 15 July. DSM followed with a 10-cts/lb increase on nylon-6 in North and South America, effective 24 July, and Honeywell announced a 10-ct/lb increase on nylon-6 and caprolactam in the Americas effective, 20 July.
