Covestro to close Spain MDI plant, turn site into chemical park

Covestro says it intends to close its 170,000 m.t./year methylene di-para-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) plant at Tarragona, Spain by the end of 2017. The facility accounts for 30% of Covestro's MDI capacity in the EMEA region and 12% of its global capacity. The companys supervisory board at a meeting on 4 December 2015 approved the closure.
