Neutron Texture Analysis of Melt-Textured YBCO Bulk Samples

Neutron texture measurements on YBCO bulksamples show a very sharp texture of the superconducting phaseYba_2Cu_3O_7-x with half-widths of less than 5 deg. Even witha rather coarse measurement grid of only 722 points per completepole figure, satisfactory results for the recalculated (002) polefigures could be obtained. However, for a reliable calculation of acomplete ODF, finer grids will have to be used. Due to theimportance of a good alignment of the c-axes in the material, aquantitative analysis of the (002) pole figures, including an errorestimation due to measurement grid and counting statistics, wasmade. An outline for the determination of a reliable backgroundestimate is given.
