Dabigatran and bleeding: Still an emergent situation?

Multiple cases of dabigatran-related hematologic emergencies have been reported in the literature. We have provided a review of different strategies being used to control bleeding and their effectiveness. Since the submission of our review, we have noted few more approaches being used elsewhere, but have we yet discovered effective and reliable methods for reversing dabigatran's effect? This question remains unanswered.To this day, the majority of the literature involves case reports, animal data or small studies of laboratory parameters in healthy subjects.
