Critical crack size in the fracture of metals

摘要

A physical approach developed by I.I. Novikov is applied for estimating and predicting critical crack lengths in metals. Experimental data obtained for single crystals are considered. The necessity of taking into account the critical crack lengths in J integrals is demonstrated.
