Solutia says a Korean court has ruled in favor of its rubber chemicals subsidiary Flexsys in patent litigation filed by a Chinese competitor. The unnamed competitor had claimed Flexsys' process patents for produc- ing 4-aminodiphenylamine (4-ADPA) and its PPD derivatives used as antidegradants in tire making were invalid. Solutia says the technology, called PPD2, is patent protected until 2019.
