Leucadia pulls out of Lake Charles petroleum coke-to-methanol project

Leucadia National Corp. (New York) has announced that it will not proceed with its Lake Charles Clean Energy (LCCE) project, which would have used gasification technology to convert petroleum coke (petcoke) to produce clean energy products, including methanol, hydrogen, carbon dioxide (CO2), sulfuric acid, argon and other rare gases.
