3 Companies Including Cosmo to Confirm Integration of Chiba Refineries at Beginning of 2014

The three oil companies in Japan, Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd., Mitsui Oil Co., Ltd. and TonenGeneral Sekiyu K.K. decided to confirm specific measures concerning a joint project to integrate two refineries near the beginning of next year, which are located in the Keiyo Rinkai Industrial Zone on the northeastern coast of Tokyo Bay. These refiners have just disclosed their policy to jointly operate 240,000 barrel-per-day Cosmo Oil Chiba Refinery and 175,000 bpd Chiba Refinery of Kyokuto Petroleum Industries Godo Kaisha. Until now, no decision has been made about the project. Kyokuto Petroleum is a 50:50 joint venture of Mitsui Oil and TonenGeneral subsidiary EMG Marketing Godo Kaisha.
