Major Metallurgical Coal Projects In Canada (Part 1) Willow Creek Coal Mine

The willow Creek is the open-pit metallurgical coal mine within the Peace River coalfield in British Columbia (B.C.), and Western coal owns 100% interest in that mine. Western resumed coal production at the Willow Creek coal mine in the middle of October, 2008 which had been under care and maintenance since November, 2006. At that coal mine, it was scheduled that first, low volatile (LV)/PCI coal was to be produced, and thereafter, hard coking coal in addition to LV/PCI coal was to be produced from the latter half of 2009. Coal production scale was to be 1,620 thousand tons a year, and the breakdown was LV/PCI coal by 720 thousand tons a year, and hard coking coal by 900 thousand tons a year.
