Anglo Abandoned To Acquire Macarthur

Anglo American seemed to give up Macarthur Coal of the quasi-major coal company in Australia. As reported, Anglo was studying to acquire Macarthur in partnership with CITIC Group of China which is the largest shareholder of Macarthur. However, since a consortium of Peabody Energy of USA and ArcelorMittal of Luxemburg which were moving to acquire Macarthur in first raised their purchase price (including a dividend) from 15.66 Australia dollars to 16.16 AT dollars, Anglo seemed to decide not to participate in 'scramble' of Macarthur.
