The Cerrejon is the grand-scale open-pit thermal coal mine in La Guajira located northeast of Colombia, and BHP Billiton, Anglo American, and Xstrata own 33.3% interests each in it. Production capacity of thermal coal is 32 million tons a year at this moment. Thermal coal produced at that coal mine has been exported from the Puerto Bolivar port to Europe, USA and so on.
