Ethylene-Naphtha Spread Further Widens Due to Soaring Ethylene prices

Rising ethylene prices in Northeast Asia have led to further expansion of ethylene-naphtha spread. Japan’s TosohCorporation and South Korean Yeochun Naphtha Cracking Center (YNCC) will shut down their naphtha crackers toconduct scheduled maintenance in early March and mid-March respectively, which will cause supplies of ethylene to besqueezed. As a consequence, the supply-demand balance will inevitably become tight. Such concerns have raised pricesof ethylene.
