Peabody Makes Downward Adjustment on Profit during April to June

On June 30 local time, Peabody Energy Corporation, USA made it clear that its profit during April to June in 2015would be down by about US$60 million from what was originally expected.The factors which made the profit adjusted downward are (1) The coal production in the Powder River Basin(PRB) decreased drastically due to the downpour and flood which hit the southern part of PRB in June, (2) The exportprice of metallurgical coal during April to June dropped drastically because China reduced its import volume of metallurgicalcoal to a large extent, of which the coal production volume in the southeastern part of PRB during April to June wasdown by as much as 5.0 - 5.5 million tons from what was originally planned owing to the downpour and flood. Accordingly,the coal sales volume fell and about US$40 million of profit disappeared. The coal production in this area has alreadymade a recovery to a normal level.
