Among Japanese trading firms, ITOCHU Corporation has acquired 3 excellent coal assets in Australia and Columbia in a row for the past one year . Firstly on 8th of December, 2010 ITOCHU decided to purchase 15% of the rights and interests of Maules Creek project in the State of NSW for 345 million Australia dollars from Aston Resources Pty Ltd., Australia. The transfer of this rights and interests has been completed on 6th of may, 2011, in consequence of which ITOCHU obtained the exclusive sales right for the Japanese market as well as a first priority for the sales to other countries with regard to coals to be produced by this project.
