The market prices of naphtha and petrochemical products in Northeast Asia are rising respectively. This is because the futures price of crude oil is hovering around high level of 80 US dollars or more. Also because the exports of ethylene from Iran to Southeast Asia is decreasing in addition to steadily growing demand for petrochemical products from China.

7. Commodity prices have risen sharply since 2006. This may benefit developing countries specialized on primary exports, but poverty may increase. Uruguay is a net exporter of primary products and a net importer of oil.
