TEPCO Seeks the Best Coal Portfolio for New IGCCs in Fukushima

Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and its engineering team have been seeking the best portfolio of coal burnt at two coal-fired facilities, which will be built in Fukushima. The units will be integrated coal gas combined cycle (IGCC) facilities. One of the two will start commercial operation by 2020, and the other will a few years later. Each unit will be built on the premises of TEPCO’s Hirono Thermal Plant and Joban Joint Power Co.’s Joban Power Station.
