Kyushu to Cease Unit 1 at Reihoku Power Plant Due to Boiler Troubles

Japan’s Kyushu Electric Power Co. announced on June 18 that the company ceased operation of Unit 1 atReihoku Power Plant. The unit is a coal-fired facility with 700 MW. Steam leakage inside the boiler is the reason forsuspension. After waiting for a boiler to cool down, Kyushu will start checkup of the unit late on the same day. Although, thespecific date is not fixed for restart, the unit will be operational by late July. The company says it might be quite hard to runthe unit by early July.
