Asian ethylene-naphtha spread narrowed to US$350/MT at the beginning of February, which, however, turned to expand afterwards. The spread has currently widened to slightly over US$450/MT. Since periodic maintenances at several naphtha crackers in Japan and South Korea are slated from March to May, anticipation that ethylene supply volumes will be squeezed has tightened supply-demand balance.
