The boom of optical fibre components has begun with the web and digital transmission of data. The development of net-economy models bases itself upon broadband connection nets, especially in optical fibre, which allow a faster exchange of information. "The recovery of the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) market starts with the spreading of broadband and Internet in the fixed and mobile telecoms". This concept was expressed during the first edition of Fiber-Comm, an International Exhibition dedicated to optical technology applied to the Information & Communication Technology which took place this year in Munich. Other sources, on the other hand, underline that the recovery of Information & Communication Technology is committed to a wider acceptance by the market of broadband, which bases itself upon Wireless, Optical Fibres, satellite, ADSL: so, not only optical fibres, which therefore have important competitors. At last, it has been understood that in this field the optical fibre is not always the most suitable choice. As a matter of fact, broadband is often mentioned, asserting that the spreading of Internet is restrained by an insufficient capacity of data transport. However, this is not true. Rather, there are great interests involved. The increase in band depends only partly upon the increasing availability of channels of channels of transport, in optical fibre, satellite or wireless: as a matter of fact, there are technical solutions which allow the passage of adequate quantities of data in the existing channels. As a consequence, the new channels are substantially "empty", available in a superabundant way: the supply exceeds the demand. This would have to bring about a drastic reduction in costs for the user, but this does not happen, because as someone tells, there is a sort of "cartel" of telecoms which on the one hand restrains a more substantial fall in prices, and on the other hand tries to fill the unused capacity, in a way which is not always useful for the user.
