Artifacts are commonly seen in many specimens or tissues derived from cardiac or vascular surgery/Cardiac mesothelial/ monocytie incidental cardiac excrescences may be found in most open cardiac surgeries and hate been described in biopsy specimens of the myocardium. On occasion, these have been overinterpreted as being malig nant lesions or as representing a true pathologic process,rather than being recognized as artifactual. These entities,along with other cardiovascular artifacts, are usually -of no significance, but may be confusing for the pathologist who must recognize them and categorize them in the proper clinical context.
