Sabic on Sunday reported a 5.7% increase in fourth-quarter net proft to 6.16 billion Saudi riyals ($1.64 billion). Gross proft was 1% higher at SR13.82 billion while operating proft was fat at SR10.3 billion. Fourth-quarter net proft was down 5% compared with the third quarter of 2013 and operating proft was 9% lower. For the whole of 2013 Sabic reported a 2% increase in net proft to SR25.23 billion, a 4% rise in gross proft to SR55.31 billion, and a 4% increase in operating proft to SR42.59 billion. Earnings per share for full year were SR8.41 compared with SR8.26 in 2012. Full-year sales were fat at SR189 billion ($50.39 billion). The company cites lower costs and charges for its higher earnings.
