STATISTICS COLLECTION

In June 2006 forms were sent out promptly, but there were as ever delays in reporting which in turn delayed the issue of the final statistics report. Such delays are followed up with members but the whole process still takes more time than necessary. The opinions and views of member companies on how to improve statistics collection are always welcome, even if it is not always possible to act on all suggestions made. While the reporting of company statistics is a confidential one-way process, the discussion of the process itself should be a two-way engagement. The T.I.C. Executive Committee recently discussed and agreed to change the way in which T.I.C. statistics on production and processing are collected. Forms will be sent out electronically and every quarter. Reports from the members will be required to be sent every quarter to the independent auditor collecting the figures. The auditor will not release any figures until row quarters have been received, therefore the totals will be released every six months as before, after June 30th and December 31 st. It is hoped this will make the statistics collection process more regular and less of a burden for the members each time.
