Solutia Exits Primary Accelerators

Solutia says it will cease production of primary accelerators, a type of rubber chemical, at Antwerp, Belgium, a facility that is operated by former owner Monsanto. Production will stop in the second half of the year, marking Solutia's exit from that business line. "This decision is consistent with Solutia's overall strategy to focus o businesses that are market leaders with a sustainable competitive advantage," says Mike Donnelly, president and general manager of Solutia's technical special- ties division.
