Setbacks like rising unemployment, weak automotive sector, stock market crash and the IT scandal are not expected to hold back the forecasted 5-6% growth, which will be aided by the burgeoning middle classes and the fact that the economy is not export-driven, unlike that of China. In the midst of this, the country's plastics industry is riding high, boosted by the growth of the retail sector and rapid urbanisation, and this was the picture presented at the Plastindia exhibition held from 4-9 February at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
