Show to be a deciding factor for Italians

According to the Italian trade association Assocomaplast, the production and sales of machinery and moulds last year did not do as well as 2007, with both exports and imports having fallen. The outlook for 2009 is also one of a downward trend and the association says that the Plast '09 exhibition, to be held from 24-28 March in Milan, will determine if a turnaround is in store for Italian machinery manufacturers. The 15th edition of the exhibition will have 1,300 companies, domestic and foreign ones from 40 countries, occupying 60,000 sq m of space. The association is optimistic about visitors and says that already 8,000 have pre-registered since January, 5% more than Plast '06 received in the same period three years ago. This year's show runs together with the IPACK-IMA, Grafitalia and Converflex, events for the packaging, graphic arts and converting sectors.
