Powerhouse for advanced materials

To realise its target of fulfilling 69% of its sales (from the current 51%) from performance products and advanced materials, Dow Chemical is planning to buy Rohm and Haas in a US18.8 billion deal. With this purchase, Dow says it will become "the world's leading speciality chemicals and advanced materials company and an earnings-growth company markedly shifting the balance of its portfolio towards higher growth, higher margin specialities businesses."
