A new chemical industrial city to be located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is being planned by International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) and Borealis, which is part owned by IPIC. Described as "the largest and most integrated of its kind in the world", the multi-billion dollar project comprises a world-scale naphtha cracker, downstream propylene and ethylene derivatives, a world-scale reformer, xylene, benzene, cumene, phenol and derivatives units. The first phase, which is expected to be completed in 2013, will further develop the down stream industry in the country.
